Dave fogo is claiming that through attention practice, you're actually giving yourself a little bit of space from that automatic processing byt focused attention. Did he mean counting your breath, or breadth at the nose, at the abdomen, that kind of practice specifically? Yes, i don't think dave talks about the specific practices. But the other studies that have shown this, i have really looked at the focusing on a n object of awareness, is the way they describe it. It's usually focus on the breath, because that's where a lot of these practices are starting.
