What Happened When Something Goes Wrong

The world of the seventeenth century was tensive and harsh, specially for people trying to carve out an existence in colonial new england. The protestant reformation of the century before had left most europeans with the belief that bad things happened because of the devil. This was a time when misfortune, loss and even a simple illness would be blamed on the work of witches and sorcerers. If something went wrong, there was always some one to blame. It seems there was a devil in every community.
