The Candelaria Children in Rio

The Candelaria children were particularly important to Yvonne, who'd worked with them for years. They hung around outside the imposing Roman Catholic Candelaria Church because at night it was the only place they could find to sleep. The local business owners wanted to deal with the problem and they were willing to take extreme measures. At that particular time, there was a lot of dead squaths inside the police. These death squads were paramilitary groups largely made up of off-duty corrupt policemen paid by business owners. I think they decided to eliminate the kids. That's what was in their minds.
