Introduction
A former bloods gang leader has joined with rival Crips gang leaders to found a nonprofit called Original Gangsters United. The organization's goal is to recruit former gang members to serve as mentors for young people in an effort to help them escape the cycle of street violence. Participants who have been incarcerated, they find, are less likely to re-offend and in turn become mentors and positive role models for others.
