The Return of Identity Politics and Tribalism

After an increasingly therapeutic century, it was perhaps inevitable that we would struggle with the lingering center of our identity. Identity politics is too often not a challenge to a reassertion of us dominated by what they critique. It becomes another manifestation of dysfunctional urges, which operate in the unconscious and manifest as dysfunction writ large. The narcissist syndrome is really present. Of course, being narcissistic is inherently un-satisfactory, inherently neurotic, and inherently damaging to a sense of us. Too often identity politics is not inclusive. It's not in service to community and togetherness. But as an elaborate collective manifestation of the same dysfunction that it challenges, it become another manifestation of Dysfunctional Narc
