The Importance of the Dao De Jing
Lao Tzu wrote down a summary of his knowledge in about 5000 Chinese characters, or 81 brief chapters. He then handed the text to the guard before stepping across the border into the unexplored frontier. The text that he wrote down became known as the Dao De Jing and also sometimes named after its author Lao Tzu. It is one of China's most important and significant religious and philosophical traditions.
