There has been a rise in allergies over the last couple of decades or generations in humans. Dogs can be genetically predisposed, like terriers and boxes and bulldogs are more prone anyway to allergies. The active ingredient in chocolates, which affects dogs, is called theobromine. A block of concentrated 90% cocoa chocolate can kill a dog.
