The term paladin comes from the heroic christian knights of charlemagne rit. In earlier editions of d and d, for example, in the b c m i set of d andd, you had avengers. And avengers were chaotic paladins, right? They weren't a paladin as such. It's same thing like clerics, where they say, like, you know, a cleric can be the cleric of any god or no god at all.
