Assessing Cardiac Risk in Patients With Pulmonary Disease
Lung disease is a risk factor for arrhythmias. The most significant one associated with COPD is multifocal atrial tachycardia or MAT. Any patient having non-cardiac surgery should be assessed for their risk of major adverse cardiac events known as MACE, M-A-C-E. There is an algorithm that will take you through how exactly to assess patients for cardiac risk.
