The Importance of Performance Under Pressure

There's not a lot of performing under pressure, I think, for most academics. You don't really need to perform much as an academic. Most of the metaphors and vocabulary that we have around it is around athletics and sports. In baseball, they call it the creature, the monster, or Steve Blast disease. The yips originally are from golf, but they also call it the staggers, the waggles, and whiskey fingers.
