"I had this very bad idea that what i needed to do in every single social situation was wait until people could unsee my body," she says. "i didn't know anything about disability history, or about all the legal rights that i enjoy because of activists that have fought for them for me before." 'If you really are committed to that project, as i was, you can’t write about it, you can's study it, you certainly can't do philosophy about identity,' she adds.
