Google's Recalling to a Repository
Researchers at Giraffe Security found a way that Google was using these programs and they're recalling to a repository outside of Google's networks. The researchers had put in some payloads that were kind of pinged back to them, thus alerting them of who was running the package or where those requests came from. If you are a malicious actor and you're trying to compromise Google employees...you would be able to back door these employees with malicious code.
