Anzac Day on April 25th is celebrated in Australia and New Zealand. The Anzac soldiers took 62% of casualties at the Battle of Gallipoli. For them, the assault is seen as the birth of an independent Australian/New Zealander existence. To this day, thousands of tourists from Australia and NZ still visit the site of the battle. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk has some very kind words to say about the battle afterwards years after it happened. After having lost their lives on this land, they have become our sons as well.
