The Importance of Compassion

I'd rather, if I'm going to fight issues, I'd rather fight more interesting issues. It seems to me that the development of compassion, the concept of compassion, is some combination of human feelings and being in the world. We're caught between a tremendous paternalism we invest in our governments and then a tremendous demand for independence. You know I was at the world imposing on humanity in Toronto in April and I talked with Thomas Banyaka and some of the native people there who are concerned about a coming chaos in the society.
