The Proximity Effect in Movie Sound

The frequency response of a mic changes when you put the mic far away. Some mics in particular called directional mics have a physics phenomenon known as the proximity effect where they sound Extremely bassy the closer you get to them. Your best bet is to take a tiny mic and pin it onto a person's shirt or Tape it on their skin just under their shirt if you want to hide the mic that's what I do.
