The Contemplative Reflective Qualities of Interactive Fiction
I don't write interactive fiction by the definition that buckles uses because I haven't released anything that would use a parser. But this idea of like, you know, subtle manipulation of the reader's thought processes is 100% how I think not just as someone who writes interactive fiction but as a writer. This is part of that scientific method argument where when you get into a spot and adventure when you're stuck and you can't move things forward, all you have to do is reflect. And my immediate thought was that if you were doing this in like a big game space today, you would just get accused of bad design. It's supposed to be about consistent buy in consistent action.
