The FTSE 100: A Maligned Index
The FTSE 100, it's a very maligned index. I'd say despite its long-term returns, it's held up fairly well when you look on a sort of multi-decade basis. So the more important question is can these businesses out earn their cost of capital, which I think they can? But secondly, whether these are businesses with serious economic modes and that can offer investors a genuine equity growth story, and that's much more debatable.
