Kumar decides to come out to his mom during a trip back home to Malaysia about four months later. Back in the US, Kumar embraces life as a PhD student, making more close friends. In 2015, less than a year later, he meets a guy at a party Kumar hosted his apartment. By the time I meet Kumar at the Australian dinner, he's single and working for the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
