Is There a Connection Between Credentials and Earning Potential?

In the real world there is actually a lot of ariants. It's not a tight cause and effect connection. Once you realize that, then you can say which one does the labor market actually care about? Which employers care about or what are the wages they put on it? I'd say the point of the question is to get people wondering about it.
