The Peasant Voice
The peasant voice, of course, is traditionally very hard to find. Is sats, namely e oll te aristocrats and so on, that leave a record. So what sources did you use to try and hear the peasant voice? That's a really good question, because a lot of historians kind of think it's impossible to get at what peasants think or thought. On the other hand, there are bits and bobs of evidence that you can very carefully tease out. In fact, we occasionally have direct evidence that place names are given by peasants,. even the ams, af villages in south oxfordshire.
