The Premature Anti-Fascist
A group of Americans who had fought in the Spanish Civil War were labeled premature anti-fascist. When they tried to enlist, they were often shunted to non-combat groups or army bases at home. Bernard Knox didn't realize this is what he had been labeled until he came home. He was actually in his graduate school interview at Yale after the war and learned from his interviewer that he was a premature anti- fascist.
