The Intimacy of the Gods in the Greekoroman Tradition

The intimacy with the gods in the grecoroman tradition is a lot through things like dreams and visions. Some ancient authors seem to have this on going relationship with one of the gods. Whereas the, i haven't seen any sources at least that suggest that sort of relationship with the emperor. It seems like with the emperor, you either know him personally as a person, or you'r worshipping him through these rituals with a statue and things like that.
