The Usefulness of Philosophy

Scientism is an epistemology, it's a theory of knowledge. It claims that only things we can know are the things given to us by the hypothetico deductive method of scientific method. That claim seems to be self-refuting and must be supported philosophically. Science assumes many unexamined assumptions like cognitive reliability or morality. But philosophy examines its own assumptions, examines its own foundations. So in deep and profound way, science neither gives us as much certainty as other disciplines.
