When you think back to the past, what you have done is you have started to erase the really bad experiences. So this is what we do. That's why trauma holds people back. If it's an extreme event, you are triggered by that memory of the past and you're kind of defensive or guarded or triggered in life if something like that comes up. And what we ultimately need to do is have the awareness that does help us move forward.
