The Relationship Between Exercise and All Cause Mortality
There's no clear threshold and a previous sort of obsession with 10,000 steps. The benefit increases gradually as you move from sedentary to very active. This does not show the effect of increasing the amount of exercise you do. These are observational studies. They do not show causation. There probably is a direct causal benefit. I really believe there is. I'm biased, I'm afraid. But I think I've got an unbiased witness to this.
