The Gospel of Paul and Silas
Thessalonica was a major harbour town, the capital macedonia. It was a free city ruling itself without a roman garrison situated within it. The missionaries, as they typically did, began their work in the synagogue. While in thessalonan paul reasons in the synagogue for three sabbaths. Paul sets out a case for them that the christ had to suffer and rise from the dead,. That jesus of nazareth was the messia, the one who fit the prophecies. There are two stages to this argument, first, presenting the scripture's portrayal of the christ, and second, showing that jesus uniquely fits it.
