Rick Hall and Jerry Wexler recorded I Never Loved a Man with Aretha Franklin. The session ended in an argument between Hall and Ted White, who was staying at the same motel as his wife. Penn Jillette says he thought it would never make any money on Dan Spooner or Cogbill Foy. But instead they became one of country soul's all-time classics.
