Is Motor Imagery a Cognitive Technique?
Motor imagery is a cognitive technique. It doesn't involve physically moving, so it's not going to help us with our fitness levels. We found that motor imagery didn't just improve our movement skill, but it actually altered the way our brain operates and the way that our physiology works. There are several studies that have looked at electro myographic activity - which is a measure of our muscle response.
