Are Doctors a Part of the Campaign to Criminalize Abortion?
In the post civil war period, am the professions played a big role in the criminalization of abortion. Doctors tended to be white and wealthy, and often people who were performing abortions came from folk medicine traditions. And they want to get these sort of itinerant faith healers and midwives out of the profession entirely. They not only deliver the babies, they help you when you don't want to deliver a baby.
