Hugo's Theodosyncrasy
Hugo's ode, this poem of primitive times, is genesis. Christ then puts humanity on a different trajectory for the third phase. For hugo, it's an age of melancholy and meditation. He has a new conception of himself as having a body and a soul. This becomes important because the body provides what he calls the grotesque or the chometic side of man.
