i wonder if this is affecting not just readership, but authorship as well. One of the big things is the ability of a book to take you to some other place that you've never been. The only way in which a novel might tell someone's story would be for them to read it. And i do think that it's entirely possible that a novel could avolve a person who wants to write about something different than themselves.
