The Boston Massacre
The 1770 so-called Boston Massacre wasn't even a massacre. It wouldn't have happened had the British essentially sent soldiers to America with no real job to do, except this direct trouble. John Adams saw that as a great victory for the American claim that we really were capable of governing ourselves.
