Apocalyptic literature is basically the jewish version of platonic greek philosophy. Books like one enoch, two enocha as well as a whole lot of other books that were spawned from that particular literature. Dead sea scrolls themselves seem to be in large measure the products of the Essenes who had a very apocalyptic outlook on the world.
