Channetland Zvary: Trust between us is increased when we can meet our children's feelings bravely with empathy, or at least acceptance. She says it gets a whole lot clearer with experience that we're doing the right thing. "It feels like I'm going from being a stranger in those cases to becoming somebody who helps them feel a little safer maybe," she says.
