Cactus Bucks - Is That a Hormonal Issue?
There's a whole bunch of different things that can cause an antler to fall off. The leading theory is that some plants produce phytoestrogen like plant-based estrogens. Sometimes you get a population where like half of the bucks are still in velvet in November. And do you see Antler Boxes? Yes, there're actually viable antler boxes out there. So they can reproduce and it depends on the injury to the skull. Dr. Fox from Utah wrote a really good paper about EHD for them,. I've heard that being the thing that causes this kind of growth may be an anteocephalocele.
