The Life and Times of Stephen Bloom

Mr. Bloom is an advertisement canvasser for a local newspaper in Dublin, Ireland. He meets Stephen Daedalus at the National Library where they have a quasi-platonic dialogue. The next episode consists of 18 fragmentary scenes of Dublin life that are thematically linked up with the others and with the book as a whole. Ashe writes: "I don't know I was absinthe? It feels like it."
