In the Hebrew Bible, describing God as a father is not absent. In second temple Judaism, that's the time period and culture of Judaism that Jesus grew up in. So it marks Jesus' teachings in a way that sets them apart. It's really significant and it's a uniquely Christian way of talking about God.
