"It certainly seems right that a world in which powr differentials are less deep or less present, less structuring of everyday life, would be a better world," he says. "What we've been seeing since roughly the murder of george floyd is something that worries me for two quick reasons." The way this is all being wielded and talked about is more about virtue signalling to one another whether people are white or black, than actually helping black people who need help.

John McWhorter is an author, a member of the Persuasion Board of Advisors, a Columbia University linguist, and a columnist for The New York Times. His latest book, Woke Racism: How a New Religion Has Betrayed Black America, argues that we must understand wokeness, quite literally, as a religion.
