The comparison of showing off versus entertaining does, I don't think that works. It's still entertaining to watch this person make an idiot out of himself. The parts in football games or basketball games where the athletes start showing off a little bit are the most entertaining part of the game. If the athlete starts showing off so much, that it then affects the rest of his team. And they start performing worse because this guy has just taken all the attention. Then the showing off is affecting the main goal here, which is to win the game.
