Designing a Sound for a Chip Machine
Clover's new chip machines require you to insert your card, leave it in while it's being approved, and then take it out. To achieve that, Connor broke down the warning tone into three parts. He was inspired by the satisfying click of the chest strap on his hiking backpack. When an interface element looks or sounds like something in the real world, designers call it skeomorphism.
