Praise is a more effective form of reinforcing behavior than criticism. The best way to give feedback is to show what it looks like to receive feedback really well. By criticising publicly, you show your team that you genuinely want the criticism. You must know the context of the relationship of the person you're giving feedback to in order to understand whether you need to flex more on challenging directly or caring deeply.
