The Invasion of Iraq
The invasion of Iraq in 2003 was to show that the United States wasn't as strong as it liked to present itself. That, of course, is in the background of all of this. I mean, when Putin talks about the US becoming more assertive and talks about an American dick-tat, that's the kind of thing he's referring to. This also must be an anxiety for China that the Ukrainians could start to really push back Russian troops using their Western weapons. And Putin is going to be weaker as a result.
