The Origins of Asherah in the Hebrew Bible

There are a couple of places where it's possible that the text has been altered to erase references to Asherah. And one of them is Deuteronomy 33 verse two, which talks about God coming from the South. That word doesn't really fit because it's relying on an understanding of this word that was borrowed from Persian in the fifth century. We don't know for sure. But that's an argument that a lot of scholars are.
