Normalization Is an Ongoing Process
I would argue normalization is an ongoing process. It is refreshed by the continued acquiescence by people who know better. And then more broadly, it normalizes the idea that there are no rules that racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, treason against the country can be defined down. I don't feel like that what's happened with Fuentes is a refreshing of it. I feel like it is that it is signaling that Trump is a more troubled and peripheral figure in the party.
