"It was a gamble because we were casting people like Michael Parkinson," says Leslie. "There was no guarantee that he was going to be able to do any of it, really." The BBC didn't want actors playing the camera crew and asked studio guys if they'd mind being on camera. There was a lot of handheld camera work with long takes - not normally how you would in a movie.
