The Importance of Taking Race Into Account
John Avlon: We have to stop talking in euphemisms about affirmative action. He says taking race into account is a polite, doily, anti-mecasser, fig leaf euphemism for black and Latino students. The question is whether that's the case in 2023 with all brown-skinned people as in brown being black and Latino, Native American, not South Asian, he says.Avlon: I wonder how smart legal minds on the pro affirmative action side are parsing these very strongly worded statements coming from the conservative camp.
