Theodore Durant was convicted of murdering two women in a San Francisco church. His trial showed the public that, quote, people of apparently good character with no prior history of violence can commit bizarre, brutal crimes for no rational reason. In 1915, Emmanuel Baptist Church is finally demolished after being rumored to be cursed.
