The President's Pardoning Power Isn't in the Federal System, Right?
In the state's governors have the pardoning power. It works largely the same way, but the president doesn't have that ability. Anything in the federal system, he can use his pardon power. But even if he could, the suit in New York state would proceed because it's a state charge. Joe Biden could pardon Trump tomorrow. And instead of having the world at his feet, then he would just have to go deal with New York the same as ever.
