Artists have been outsourcing their creative process to technology for quite some time. David Bowie wrote many of his lyrics using what is known as a verb-a-sizer which in short is a computer program that auto generates lyrics. In the late 1960s, a painter from London named Harold Cohen got really interested in the relationship between computers and art. He started playing with something that he called algorithmic art. That is the result of algorithmic mediation and manipulation.
