Camu and the Algerian War
In a sense, came is one of the few people who took the notion of assimilation seriously. He refused to er take sides with the arabs when the war was happening. His compassion and humanitarianism seems to have made it difficult for him actually to condemn what's increasingly seen as a kind of imperialism or colonialism nowadays. So i think that camu, in fact, through having his heart in the right place, may be put inside himself on the wrong side of the political barrier.
